These days, it seems that every month has a theme -- and it's not just Hallmark who's to blame. Did you know that April is Stress Awareness Month, May is Pet Month, and September is Yoga Month?

And let's not even get into the individual days that are dedicated to some cause or another: Public Sleeping Day (February 28) and Talk Like A Pirate Day (September 19) are two of the most random that come to mind.

With all the silly holidays out there, it's hard to know which ones should be taken seriously and which to support with your time or hard-earned cash. One that's a no-brainer is October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCA) -- a cause and initiative that we should all buy into (literally).

Here's why: One in eight U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime (that's roughly 12 percent of women). And last year, thanks to research and advances made through various funding efforts, there were more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.

And, it's about a lot more than pink labels or packaging -- each one directly supports breast cancer charities. I know my comment is late, but it is so nice to see the support from companies and from other ladies. My mom is fighting this awful disease and we are so grateful for all the support and feeling pretty while supporting the cause is great too.

love love love the sparkley nail polish, and it is so great that all these companes are so selflessly donating money towards breast cancer research. hopfully one day we will all be cancer free :) my love and prayers go out those in the fight against cancer!

I love buying beauty products in October because they go to breast cancer research and they're pink, my favorite color! I loved everything in this article.
