The Coolest Haircuts for Your Face ShapeHaircut trends come and go. These are the cuts that look best on you |
Best Haircuts for Diamond-Shaped Faces The diamond and oval face shapes are basically BFFS. Though the face shapes are extremely similar, and both can easily pull off more haircuts than, say, round face shapes, diamond faces do come with a few more challenges.
"Diamond face shapes (like ovals), can rock a lot of looks," Pelusi says. "But a diamond face has more edges, so some softening around the face is needed." The "edges" Pelusi is referring to, are due to the fact that diamond faces have smaller chins and foreheads and prominent cheekbones. An oval face has subtle and gradual roundness.
Pelusi says gals with diamond face shapes need to avoid haircuts with sharp edges on the top and sides of the head, as any added volume or fullness will only emphasize the already angular edges of the face. So, more specifically, bobs or wedges that land around the cheeks are not a great idea for this face shape, nor are high cut-across bangs that stem from the middle of your head. The high bangs increase the top of the diamond, and wedges at the cheek accentuate the side points of the diamond face shape.
"A beautifully layered bob can soften a diamond face," Pelusi says. "But almost all haircuts work on this face shape, as long as they're the softer version."
