Tea Tree Oil Best for: Acne
Even though I was afraid of face oils, I remember using The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil, $10, as a blemish spot treatment when I was in high school. It feels and smells more like an astringent than an oil, so it doesn't have the same ick factor that turned me off with the others. And tea tree oil really works: Studies have found that 5 percent tea tree oil is as effective at treating acne as 5 percent benzoyl peroxide. Miami dermatologist Leslie Baumann recommends it as a gentle, natural alternative to harsher acne treatments.
Try: Burt's Bees Herbal Complexion Stick, $8

This was a very helpful "cheat sheet" for dissecting facial oils and their proposed benefits. Thanks!

I am loving oils as a way to cleanse and care for my skin and hair. When you think about it, it dates back to Biblical days!

I'm now obsessed! I use a mixture of oils for cleaning and put rose hip seed oil on 2-3x a day! I wish I had started years ago. It is natural and my skin has never felt/looked better!

Good article. Chamomile and olive oil are really good. I would love to try grapefruit oil.

I have tried most of these (esp. tea tree and grapeseed on my acne-prone skin) and they do work. I'm surprised maracuja oil was left out. I've used this for about two years. It's high in vit C, so many of my blotches and old acne marks have disappeared.
