8 Daring Color Trends Everyone Can Pull OffIs your makeup bag filled with brown eyeshadows and clear lip glosses? If so, it may be time to break out of your beige-colored comfort zone and try one of these hot new color trends. We'll show you how |
Orange eyeshadow If you're imagining a Tropicana bottle on your lids right now, we understand why you'd be turned off. But Doud says wearing orange-based hues on your lids can make blue eyes pop and accentuate brown eyes as well. Plus, there is a way to wear the runway trend without looking like you belong in the juice aisle. Here's how:
For fair skin tones: "Creamsicle shades of orange look great on fair skin, and especially make blue eyes pop," says Doud. Try Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in Rust Orange, $19.
For medium skin tones: Choose a more coral hue, meaning more pink mixed in with the orange for medium skin tones. Try Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in Orange Coral Matte, $19.
For darker skin tones: Wear a bright tangerine shade (try Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in Tangerine, $19), which will stand out against darker skin. "The key is to layer; start with a sheer application and add that bright pop of color onto the lid or into the crease and finish with a sweep of bronzer on your face for a sun-kissed glow," says Doud.
Bonus: To make sure the shadow is the focal point of your makeup, keep the rest of the face neutral with a coral-hued blush and a creamy nude lipstick.

I am trying to keep an open mind, but I don't think orange eye shadow flatters anyone; nor do lavender lips.

I find it pretty hard to believe that most of these colors would ever look good on me.

The tangerine had its time over the summer, but should be retired. I saw many women trying to pull it off. The key word is "trying". Orange??? No way!

I can see almost all of these working except the orange eyeshadow, not sure about that one.

I wish they showed these looks on actual models so we could get an idea of how the looks could be pulled off. Or even two looks like a high fashion one and an every day look one so its not too intimidating to try.
