L'Oreal Paris HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo

L'Oreal's HiP line consistently proves that good things come in small packages. This double-sided compact is a giant bargain that fits snugly in the palm of your hand. Flip-open caps reveal two intensely pigmented, complementary shadows on one side of the compact and a mirror and two sponge applicators (no brush) on the other side. Color combos with names like Sassy and Saucy go on soft when dry and bold when wet. Left alone, pigments won't budge from lids.

I thought it would be worth it, but after several attempts to use them, I just threw them into my big makeup case and forgot about them. I tried using them again yesterday and I still hate them. The colors are NOT intense, and they absolutely are a horror to blend. I would definitely return them if I could, and would not be buying any of L'Oreal's HiP products in the future. i really like the color selection, but for some reason the eyeshadow gives me a burning sensation after a little while. the shadow wears better than most but i can\'t get past the irritation. i\'ve given mine away to my best friend and she loves them and has no issues. i guess i will stick to MAC. They try to rival high-end, triple milled eye shadows but L'Oreal just fails miserably. I found most colors ended up looking dirty on my skin. They're strong and highly pigmented but they don't blend well at all and have no staying power. And the applicators are trash! January 16, 2008, 9:03 pm

The colors are so outrageous that it’s hard to imagine circumstances where their use would be appropriate, even if you were a Clown for Cirque du Soleil, you’d at least have class enough not to want to look garish. As far as the product itself is concerned, the particles are very large and do not adhere well to the eye area or blend well and are very hard to control…and because it’s a drugstore item, you can’t try before you buy. Skip this. December 31, 2007, 12:13 pm

    Not great on darker skin

I was disappointed with this product. It looks very pigmented in the container but does not show well on darker complexions. April 29, 2008, 7:41 am I was disappointed with this product. It looks very pigmented in the container but does not show well on darker complexions. On their website they boast that it does, and even has pictures of this color duo on a darker african-american model. However I am not as dark as the model and it only shows half as well on me. I think that it is misleading and not worth the price for darker complected users. Just use NYX instead. Same look, better price. April 29, 2008, 7:41 am

Though a little pricey, like the rest of the line, the colors are gorgeous, intense, and full of pigment. They can be a little tricky to blend without a good brush. I also suggest using a primer if your lids are normal to oily to make sure the colors stay in place. These are great, though - I own so many of them, and I hope they continue broadening their color selection. Look for them on sale; they're completely worth a try. Very comparable to more expensive brands. Totally gorgeous. April 27, 2008, 12:08 am

April 21, 2008, 12:17 pm HIP is definitely that - high intensity! I was quite impressed by the strong color of the shadows. The colors go on quite smoothly, blend easily, and last a long time. A lot of shadows aren't highly pigmented, but you won't have this problem with the HIP line. They are intense and with the right application, made my eyes look good. There are some wild colors, but also some neutral ones that are great for a long day at the office. Also nice is that these are available at almost any drugstore and are one can get them on sale at times. April 21, 2008, 12:17 pm
