St Ives Apricot Scrub

Some have tried to replicate it, but it is so incredibly wholesome for your skin, that it can never be St Ives unless it is St Ives.10/16/2007

    Works Well, But Be Careful

May 9, 2008, 10:44 am I have used this product since I was about 13 years old and have always loved it. However, once I hit 30 years old, I started noticing broken capillaries in my cheeks. When I asked a dermatologist about them he asked me if I used exfoliants and I told him that I use this product every day. He said that is what caused the broken capillaries and that I need to stop using it. I tried to stop using it, but my skin looks dull and dry/flaky when i don't exfoliate, so I only use it a couple times a week now and I don't use it on my cheeks at all. If you have fair skin - be careful of using this on your cheeks - you may end up with little squiggly red/purple lines on your face!!! May 9, 2008, 10:44 am

November 12, 2007, 5:00 pm I've left a review for this previously for an older image displayed but St. Ives is a great low price scrub and it's all you really. First of all, it's great for prepping the skin for moisturizers and serums to absorb better and also a great prep for tanning purposes. You don't really need a more expensive scrub because exfoliation is the main purpose. It may, however, dry out combination to dry skin more than it would oily to combination skin so salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, or anything else with penetrating chemicals may be avoided post scrubbing because newer skin is exposed as the dead skin cells get sloughed off. The texture provides accessibility to the beads to circulate around the skin so it's great that it's not too thick that the formula won't overpower covering the skin rather than the beads themselves. I recommend this! November 12, 2007, 5:00 pm

    Very grainular- use with caution

December 20, 2007, 6:09 am I was surprised to see this product labeled as "safe for everyday use." This is definitely a scrub- you can SEE the solid, chunky grains in this product. Sandpaper comes to mind, though honestly, you don't feel them on your skin when you wash. I think this product will be good for those who believe they need to feel the nitty gritty in order to believe they are exfoliating their skin. But I would be cautious in using this on a daily basis, it seems too harsh. I tried a sample of this for a week and really didn't see any difference. There's heavy fragrance which is not my preference. December 20, 2007, 6:09 am

Good, effective scrub, but can't stand the scent

A lot of scrubs use tiny plastic beads as the granules, which never biodegrade. The granules in the St. Ives scrub are natural (tiny, broken up bits of shell), so it doesn't hurt the environment. This scrub is also a good price. Unfortunately, I can't stand the smell. It smells like fake apricot, and it makes me want to gag. So definitely take a whiff of the scrub before you buy it! St. Ives Apricot Scrub Rocks!

So I said what the heck and I gave it a shot. I've been hooked ever since! It's no wonder this product always gets rave reviews, it's the original scrub and everyone has tried to copy it. I will say, however, that the "sensitive" and other sub categories of the scrub are not as good as the original, but overall, I love it! February 9, 2008, 3:40 pm

    Best scrub for your buck

December 11, 2007, 2:53 pm This scrub is super cheap, AND super effective. Not many products can make that claim. My brother had a little trouble with mild acne (don't use it as "miracle formula" for moderate to severe acne; it could be very irritating and make acne worse)so I suggested exfoliating his skin and recommended Apricot Scrub (I knew he wouldn't want to spend too much) and he has sworn by it since. It is the perfect balanced scrub; not too abrasive, not wimpy, and leaves skin clean and soft with no residue. I also appreciate that it comes in a medicated formula (which my boyfriend uses) and a sensitive skin formula which also works well. The only drawback is the new scent, I much preferred the other one, I don't know why they changed it. This is the best exfoliating cleanser at any price in my opinion. December 11, 2007, 2:53 pm

So since it didn't cost that much, I went out and bought it so I could try it. From the 1st use, I fell in love. #1, it smells great. Number two, the scrub really gets rid of the dull, dead skin. It's a bit tedious washing all of the grains off, but the results are worth it. My skin always ends up soft, dewy, and glowing. December 4, 2007, 9:06 pm

December 3, 2007, 6:44 pm I used this on my face several times. The first few time times, it worked great, and I could feel how smooth and soft my skin felt. However, after maybe a week and a half of daily usage, it began to feel a little harsher on my skin, especially my cheeks. I do like to scrub a bit more vigorously than others, and this may have been the cause. I have also used it on my knees, elbows, and shoulders to exfoliate! This is a great product, however I would use it gently and only once a day. (In addition, I would stick with St. Ives brand, because generic equivalents I have found burn, itch, and tend to have larger pieces.) Great product and definitely a good scrub to have around, even if you don't always use it on your face! December 3, 2007, 6:44 pm

I've been using it for at least 15 years and have never found a better scrub. Leaves my face completely smooth and refreshed. I always get compliments on how fresh I look whenever I use this. My skin also seems to just soak up moisturizer like a sponge after I use it - it's an awesome feeling. Since it's so cheap, I also use it as a body scrub year-round. I stockpile it whenever it's on sale so I always have some in the house. Just the best stuff out there! November 29, 2007, 12:50 pm
