Following in the famous footsteps of celebrities such as Nicole Kidman and Audrey Tautou, Brad Pitt has been named the new face for Chanel No. 5. The surprising news marks the first time a man has represented the French brand's iconic women's perfume -- and it's also Pitt's first time being a beauty spokesmodel.
Reportedly, the Academy Award-nominated actor is being paid around seven figures for the deal. The ads for the classic scent -- which has been a top-selling fragrance since its release in 1921 -- will be shot with Pitt in London later this week, according to E! News.

Eco-friendly and vegan celebrity (and star of one of my fave movies, "Clueless") Alicia Silverstone is adding another title to her name: beauty product creator.
The actress has teamed up with Juice Beauty to create a skin care and makeup line with five products: Simply Pure Chamomile Cleanser, $22, Simply Nourishing Moisturizer, $36, Simply Flawless Pressed Powder, $24, Irresistible Glow Facial Highlighter, $22, and Purely Kissable Lip Color, $16 (it's Silverstone's signature shade). The products are available now exclusively at Ulta and Ulta.com, but may be sold at more stores later on.
I got a chance to chat with Silverstone, who was more than happy to tell me about her beauty secrets. Her biggest tip: eat healthy. She's followed a vegan diet for more than 13 years and credits… See more »

After years of starting beauty trends (pink hair, anyone?), Lauren Conrad is set to launch her own official beauty bible, of sorts. Fans of the reality star-turned-author are already familiar with her beauty advice, thanks to her website, TheBeautyDepartment.com. Launched in April 2011, the popular site features video and picture tutorials on nail, hair, and makeup looks with step-by-step advice from Conrad as well as her own beauty gurus: hairstylist Kristin Ess and makeup pro Amy Nadine.
The trio has now collaborated on the former "Hills" star's new book, "Lauren Conrad Beauty," set to hit stores in October 16. However, the coffee table must-have isn't Conrad's first venture into publishing. The fashion designer wrote how-to book "Lauren Conrad Style" as well as best-selling… See more »

Summer is in full swing but at this year's Costume Institute Gala it was apparent that Hollywood is already diving into fall. Taking place tonight in New York City, the 2012 Met Ball red carpet was flooded with vampy, wine-colored lipsticks. Celebrities such as Kate Bosworth, Camilla Belle (left), Lana Del Rey, and Amber Valletta flaunted deep mulberry lip stains. Also joining the dark lipstick brigade? Rachel Zoe, Jessica Alba, Jessica Chastain, and Leighton Meester all sported bold plum shades.
The gothic makeup at the 2012 Met Gala may have been shocking, but the hair perfectly complemented the summer season -- loose and wavy! Actresses Julianne Hough, Amy Adams, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Hilary Swank (bottom, left) let their hair hang long with brushed-out bohemian waves.… Read More »

For years, cosmetic companies have been able to boast about their "miracle" and "instant" results without actually having to prove anything. But now things are set to change.
According to recent story in "Advertizing Age," the FDA, Congress, and the National Advertizing Division of the council of Better Business Bureaus are teaming up to take a closer look at ingredients and marketing claims. Tougher scrutiny will come in the form of mandatory registration of ingredients beginning next year. The hope is that with this shift we will all know exactly what we are getting with each purchase -- no more faux "miracles" in a bottle. Read More »
