She may be a multi platinum selling artist with a huge worldwide following, but it was Lady Gaga's "Born This Way Foundation" work that helped her secure Glamour magazine's coveted "Woman of the Year" crown.
QUIZ: Who Said It? Madonna vs. Lady Gaga
The foundation, which works to eliminate bullying and build self confidence, set the 27 year-old singer apart from the pack and, according to the interview she gave the magazine, her own self confidence is right where it needs to be.
"I'm confident in who I am," the singer says. "I've come to a place in my life where I've accepted things that are me, as opposed to feeling pressure to explain myself to people around me. That's just the way I've always tried to be. It didn't change when I became a star."
And, when it comes to her own, unique look, Gaga feels equally self-assured.
"If there was some sort of mathematical equation for beauty, I don't know if I would be the algorithm," she said. "I've always been OK with that. I'm not a supermodel. That's not what I do. What I do is music. I want my fans to feel the way I do, to know what they have to offer is just as important, more important, than what's happening on the outside."
