Amy Adams' signature red hair was the inspiration for Molly Sims recent color transformation.

The model, 40, was itching for a big hair change, "something fun and energetic," and polled hairdressers for 6-months about what to do.

Ultimately, when it came to pulling the trigger with either a drastic cut or color overhaul, the naturally dirty-blonde asked for her husband's two cents. "He said color, so I went with color," the dutiful wife recalls.

After trying on "six or seven different wigs" in a variety of reds, celebrity colorist Aura Friedman from Sally Hershberger's eponymous salon, did the honors and made over the blonde into a "gold-y, red-y, coppery toned" redhead.

"I was so nervous when she was doing it," Sims, a brand ambassador for Nexxus says. "I saw the bowl of like orange, carrot and my heart like sank. But then once she finished it, I was so happy."

"I like it. It's almost like wearing a new pair of heels," Sims says of changing up your hair color. "You can wear different makeup, different clothes. It definitely changes things up. I feel like Julianne Moore!"
