Here we thought that under-eye bags -- a neon sign for sleepless nights and stress -- were the bane of every woman, but then we saw this: women in Korea are applying small strips of tape under their eyes to give them the appearance of having this fatty eye pouch, which is supposed to be a sign of youthful, healthy skin. (There are also surgeries and makeup techniques that achieve this look, which falls under the Korean aesthetic of
aegyo sal or "beautiful/winsome skin".)

Advocates of the tape insist this treatment doesn't create the unsightly dark, sunken eye, but we're still baffled by it. We looked at a handful of pics of pretty, young Koreans with/without the eye puff, and we still think it's strange and totally unnecessary.
