Are nail salons weird and hostile places for guys? Michael Elliot thinks so. That's why he launched Hammer & Nails, a guy-centered nail salon where dudes can go to get their fingers and toes buffed and polished to perfection.

While we admit the name had us cracking up, Elliot may have a point. Nail salons are definitely lady-specific domains, and we can imagine that men might feel a bit alienated in a typical pink-splashed manicure den. Elliot, a screenwriter by trade, who wrote that Queen Latifah movie
Just Wright, said he got the idea after one too many bad manicure experiences. "I have always hated going to get a mani just because of that feeling of walking in the door and it seems like all the women kind of look at you like, 'What are you doing here?' and it's just awful."
The first Hammer & Nails opens on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles in November. It'll feature oversized leather chairs and every guy gets his own TV and headphones. He doesn't have a liquor license just yet, but plans on offering complimentary beer and whiskey. Wait a sec, that sounds better than our nail salon.

"I want to make nail care as common as getting a haircut and I feel like creating the right environment is key to that," said Elliot. Sign our boyfriends up. [
