I walked into a suite at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City today and was greeted by a smiling, barefoot Miranda Kerr. Her red Lanvin pumps had been bothering her feet after a long morning working the catwalk for the Gillette Venus Step Up & Step Out Tour. (It's a multi-city charity event -- in New York, Miami, Atlanta, and Los Angeles -- that Kerr is hosting to benefit the Step Up Women's Network. Details are on
Venus's Facebook page.)
She offered me a glass of water -- "Sparkling or still? We have everything," she said with Martha Stewart-flair -- and got cozy on the couch.

Aside from the obvious Gillette razor talk, I asked Kerr some personal questions -- from her favorite travel destination to the best gift she's ever received -- and her answers were charming and genuine. She got lost in thought a few times -- mostly when talking about foot massages from husband Orlando Bloom -- but otherwise she maintained the most intense eye contact of anyone I've ever interviewed. Intimidating would be an understatement.
In no particular order, these are some of Kerr's favorite things:
Favorite skin care secret: Dry body brushing. "For me, it's essential to do this every morning to invigorate my body. It gets the blood flowing, the circulation going."
Favorite yoga move: "Plank -- plank is the one move I feel that benefits the whole body, and almost everybody can do it."
Favorite food: "Avocado. Good fats -- you can put it on your face, you can put it in your hair, you can eat it."
Favorite restaurant: ABC Kitchen in New York City
Favorite beauty product: "Kora Organics Energizing Citrus Mist. When it's hot and steamy there's nothing better."
Favorite hair product: "Coconut oil in the ends for a treatment."

Favorite beauty treatment: "Massage. Head massage, leg massage, foot massage, back massage. I love to go to a professional, but if a friend offers to give me a foot massage, I won't say no. Or if Orlando does it, I'm like, 'yeah, sure!'"
Favorite summer plans: "Chilling in New York, and maybe going to the Hamptons."
Favorite travel destination: "Other than home, Corsica.
Favorite gift she's ever received: "My son painted me this beautiful plate for Mother's Day. And I have his handprint and my handprint on a teapot. He's very creative," she says of her 2 year-old son, Flynn.
As I walked out, Kerr handed me a tube of Rejuvenating Foot Balm from her beauty line, Kora Organics. "So my husband can give me a foot massage?" I asked. "Well, if Orlando can do it, why can't he?" she responded with a smile before drifting back into the hotel suite.
