Condoms! We love them because they keep our bodies disease- and baby-free. But now there's an added condom benefit: They keep your va-jay-jay in healthy working order. A Chinese study published in the journal
PLoS One found that women who used condoms as contraceptives had healthier levels of bacteria than women who chose other forms of birth control.
The study's authors say that condoms are best for vaginal health because they act as a barrier from semen. Condoms protect and promote healthy levels of what's called lactobacilli, which is basically a good kind of bacteria that helps to maintain your body's natural pH level.
Researchers also found that taking hormonal birth control will also keep your vaginal bacteria at its proper levels. Yet another reason to love the Pill. [
