Celebrate The Super Bowl With One Of These Haute Couture Helmets

Nothing is safe from fashion's well-manicured clutches, not even football

Whether you're a dyed-in-the-wool football fan or only in it for the chips and guac (ooh, and buffalo wings), the Super Bowl has something for everyone. It may not be the most refined of festivities, but hey, it's a festivity, and we've never been the type to turn down a party. Little did we know, 48 of our favorite fashion designers were on the very same page this year.

Members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (you know, the CFDA) teamed up with the National Football League and Bloomingdale's to craft four dozen "haute couture" football helmets, just in time for the 48th annual Super Bowl. You'll find Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenburg, Marchesa, and more among the fashion houses responsible for the tricked-out headwear true to their respective design aesthetics.

Bloomingdale's will unveil the helmets both online and in the windows of its 59th Street NYC flagship next week, and will simultaneously begin auctioning them off to support the NFL Foundation. Bidding starts at $248, and the auction will run through February 4. So if you're in need of a really, really, seriously belated Christmas present -- or Valentine's Day, for that matter -- that will please your dude just as much as it does you, why not spring for one of these classic helmets, all haute couture'd up? Your secret inner football lover will thank you. [WWD]
