A New York plastic surgeon is taking "design" to a new and troubling place -- holding a "fashion" show featuring his plastic surgery successes. Dr. Ramtin Kassir went as far as to install his very own catwalk at an art gallery in Manhattan to stage his "Faces of Beauty" fashion show. Which isn't a fashion show so much as it is a venue for Kassir to show off his past work. Fifty of his former patients walked the runway to show off Kassir's work.
You see, Kassir considers these women his "designs." There are lot of trends out there. One is the clothes you wear. Another is the face and body you wear," said Kassir, who has offices in Manhattan and in New Jersey. "Just like Ralph Lauren introduces his new line, what I am introducing is esthetically pleasing plastic surgery."
The "designs" walked the runway with images of their former faces playing in the background. This year's show was focused on faces, but next year, he's hoping to showcase boobs. The fashion world is, predictably, not too thrilled with the idea of their event getting confused for Kassir's. "There is no place in Fashion Week for a runway show of plastic surgery," said Fern Mallis, the former vice president of IMG Fashion. "Fashion week is about fashion -- what editors and buyers will be covering and putting in the stores. It's not for people to decide on what face-lift to get." [
