Back in my carefree middle school days, (when a "beauty routine" meant French braids for special occasions and lip gloss was kind of a big deal), my go-to shampoo and conditioner were the Herbal Essences Smooth Collection. Not out of any superior beauty product knowledge, but because my mom, an avid Costco shopper, would stock our showers with the big pink bottles. Naturally, I fell in love with the signature rose scent and the super shiny hair it left me with. So when I took a sniff of
Herbal Essences Happy Go Lather, a new body wash based on the classic shampoo/conditioner combo, I was transported back to that simpler time.
The bright packaging is fun, and aside from the image of a rose, more in line with the current line of Herbal Essences products. But once I squeezed the body wash onto my loofah, it was all about the nostalgia. Like its shampoo counterpart, the body wash lathered well and didn't dry my skin out (Confession: I had stop myself several times from running my soapy hands through my hair), but it didn't really blow me away, or induce any of those orgasmic scenes from the infamous 90s commercials. What really got me was the scent. It's not too heavily perfumed, but still has that amazing, fresh rose-scent that had everyone in a tizzy (myself included) when
the brand resurrected the original scents earlier this year. After drying off, I lingered in my bathroom because it smelled so amazing.
All in all, this body wash isn't really groundbreaking, but it's the perfect ingredient to add to those de-stressing, I'm-going-to-spend-a-good-40 minutes-in-here-just-contemplating-life type of showers ... or if you're like me, just need a little something to cure a mild case of homesickness every now and then.
