We Tried It: The Hula Hoop Workout That Helped Kelly Osbourne Drop 70 Pounds

Celeb blogs have been touting Hoopnotica as Kelly Osbourne's seriously effective weight loss weapon (she reportedly lost 70 pounds thanks to this workout!). So naturally, we couldn't wait to see if it'd help us shed some of our own extra poundage.

Plus, it's hula hooping. The promise of a workout that doesn't involve running and might actually be fun? That's a "hell yes" in our book.

At BluePrint's inaugural fitness event at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles -- which also featured Exhale Yoga, LA DanceFit Zumba, and Cycle House spinning -- we got some insight into why the workout is so effective. Just one class torches nearly 500 calories thanks to a combination of stretching, dancing and cardio moves you do with the hoop.

The class left us with sweaty tanks and tired abs due one part to the hooping, one part to our belly laughing. Hoopnotica is a seriously good time, people, and definitely worth trying. Sure, we've got some minor bruises on our hipbones, but we're already signed up for our next class.
