6 Ridiculously Simple Ways to Conserve Water
Make these little changes and save hundreds of gallons of water every month
Don't let those staggering numbers intimidate you. It's easy to run up a huge water tab going about your day, but it's just as easy to start curbing your consumption. Here are some of my best tips for conserving water around the house:
1. I limit my showers to five minutes, but if you cut you daily shower by just three minutes, you save 240 gallons of water a month.
2. Switch to an Energy Star-certified washing machine to save 264 gallons of water per month.
3. Don't hand-wash your dishes. Instead, run full loads with your dishwasher to save 270 gallons of water per month.
4. Watering your garden early in the morning or later in the evening can save 750 gallons of water per month.
5. Turn off the water while you're washing your face to save 264 gallons of water per month.
Start doing these and you'll be on your way to saving nearly 21,500 gallons of water a year.
Another way you can help? Pick up Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Cream Cleanser next month. Throughout October, Neutrogena will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from every purchase of the cleanser to the Nature Conservancy, a global organization dedicated to protecting natural sources of clean water for people, plants and animals.
