We women are weird creatures, and we'll go to great lengths to keep our perfect veneers from cracking -- at least when we're first dating someone new. Chief to keep the illussion of perfection going? Makeup, makeup, makeup. Some of our friends won't let their beaus see them
sans fards until the relationship has been clearly locked down.
And they're not alone. A new study of 2,000 women found that on average, women wait four weeks and one day before they let a guy see them without makeup on. And that's not all. A third of women surveyed were convinced that if they let a guy see them without makeup too soon the relationship would have failed. Half said that going makeup-free made them worry their partner would find them unattractive. and 60 percent admitted that they reapplied makeup during dates to that their partners didn't see them without it.

Perhaps the most telling survey result: A third of women admitted that they run to the bathroom to quickly reapply makeup in the morning when they stay at a guy's house for the first time. It's all about keeping up the charade, and we've got to admit, we've done that, too.

Women copped to similarly not wanting their bosses or coworkers to see them without makeup, either. It makes sense: "It does take a while for women to feel comfortable with a new partner and makeup can act as a shield for many females," said Superdrug spokeswoman Sarah Sharp."The research indicates that for many women wearing make-up isn't just a way of looking attractive, it's much more than that, it's a way to be confident and project an image."
