For the last two years, my go-to updo has been the topknot. I'd always been partial to the high bun, so it seemed like a natural transition when the tight twist became the chicest hairstyle since the chignon.

Then, 2013 hit and celebrities were officially over the trend. In fact, the only star to wear a topknot during this year's award season was Jennifer Lopez at the Grammy's. Cute new "up dos" for the hair. However, they look time consuming and difficult to do if you don't have someone helping you with the braiding on back of your head. There needs to extra time allowed to do these styles, they are not something the average woman can do in 10 minutes of less. My hair is down to my waist, I spend at least 10 minutes combing it out and another few minutes to adjust a barrette or two.
