Skin care oil I know I said this story wasn't about face oils, but I would be remiss if I didn't tell you about the hottest oil on the skin care oil scene. Marula - The Leakey Collection, $78, is a Fair Trade oil from East Africa that currently has the beauty world buzzing. It's extremely high in antioxidants and omega acids — allegedly more than Argan oil, which held the top spot until recently. I love the scent and the hydration benefits, but what's most impressive is the matte finish. While many oils leave you with a sheen, this one is noticeably drier.

I got samples of the Marula oil and the Clarins serum from Sephora and was extremely underwhelmed by both. The Marula oil smells terrible--like a cross between medicinal ointment and men's cologne--and did nothing for my combo dry/very oily skin. If high prices scare you I suggest going the sample route first so you can see if a product works for you before you commit to buy.

YES to monoi oil! I have Yves Rocher's monoi oil and love it. Bottle lasts *forever* bc you literally only need 2 drops! I use it on dry hair.
