The key to getting your lips to look like they are radiating color from within is to forgo liner. Makeup artist Dwight Allen O'Neal says to dot color in the middle of your lips and use your fingers to blend outward instead. You can do this with a stain, a lipstick, or both. O'Neal likes to apply the stain first (like a primer), do a second dab-and-spread with lipstick, then a third round with a tinted lip gloss or colored balm to help seal in your color.
To achieve a romantic, feminine aesthetic a la Sofia Vergara, opt for a red lipstick with soft pink tones. This slightly glossy, no-liner look is a little less precision-perfect than some, but hey, so is romance itself. (Try Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipcolor in Red Revolution, $7.49.)

Making sure your lips are exfoliated is so crucial to red lips or it starts to cake and looks disgusting!! A recommendation- Victoria's Secret has a sugar scrub that is less expensive than the one on this story and is delicious to use and works wonders! It's only $16 but lasts for a long time!!
