The No. 1 Fall Makeup Trend -- And How to Pull It OffIs gloss your go-to? Not sure you can pull off the bold new lip trends for fall? Let this be your guide |
Apply color like an expert Now that you've picked your perfect bold lip color for fall, follow these tips for a flawless application.
• Choose a lip liner that is the closest match to your lipstick or gloss shade. If you are wearing a shade that is very transparent, use a transparent lip liner around the outer edge of the lips (we like Too Faced Borderline Smoothing Anti-Feathering Lip Pencil, $18.50). This will help your lipstick stay on but won't show as a hard line under your lip color.
• If you are wearing an opaque color, fill in your lips with a matching lip liner for maximum color. If you are wearing a sheerer color, line the edge of your lip line and use a brush to gently smudge the liner into your natural lip color. This should help give you a crisp lip line without looking like you drew it in pen.
• Apply an even layer of lipstick (or gloss) starting in the center of the lips and blending out toward the edges of your lips. Use a lip brush for maximum precision with bright or dark colors.

I really liked this article about finding your undertone. I think merlot would look best on me.

Exfoliation & finding your undertone are great pieces of advice. No berry or merlot lipstick for this fair skinned beauty mogul! :)

Great article, I really liked that you took the time to explain how important it is to find your true undertone and even explained how to find it. I love the colors of fall, so this was extra special to read about lip trends for this year. I myself, love the beiges and metalics, I'm a warm toned redhead, and this is my season to shine.

I agree with lip exfoliation. My lips always look better when I exfoliate. TIP: If you are not fond of the sugar scrubs, just pat water on your lips and brush them gently with your toothbrush :)
