Rule No. 1: Find a snack with a good nutrient balance Koff says when you want to lose weight, you should aim to get in a serving of protein, carbs, healthy fats, and vegetables every three hours. This will help your blood sugar from plummeting -- which means you'll be less likely to ravenously lose control at your next pit stop and scoop up two Snickers bars and a bag of potato chips.
Now, we know what you're thinking: Vegetables? At 7-Eleven? Yeah, they are in short supply. Actually, they don't exist outside the V8 bottle. The best mini meal option, says Koff? A banana, a string cheese, a bag of (unsalted if you can find 'em) nuts, and a bottle of water. "Look for individual food items as opposed to things that are already prepared and flavored," says Koff. "But keep in mind that if you opt for fruit, you should also pick up some nuts so you get protein and healthy fat," she says.
Are you always going to choose this option? Our guess is no. So click on to see what your options are if you know you're going to splurge a little.
this was very helpful! I'm always stopping at gas stations for meals between school and work so I'll make sure to keep these in mind next time I'm grabbing a quick lunch.
I was intrigued by the title of this column, Lose weight at 7-11?!? How could it be? Well, I didn't find anything in this article that was specific to any convenience store diets. I mean... really if you're going to be eating healthy in the first place, 7-11 isn't the place to go for your food. I can understand an occasional grab-on-the-go snack, but most of the items in this article are thing that I would purchase as I grocery shop. Obviously, the tips are valid and can help shave some calories when making your food choice. But who is going to buy an apple or strawberries at a 7-11? Not me! Thanks for the alternative selections though I didn't realize that greek yogart was so much higher in protein - I've just hear that it doesn't taste good so I've been afraid to try it. Maybe now I will.

Fascinating tips in this article. Who thought that Kettle chips should be chosen over Pringles? That was a huge surprise.

This was pretty helpful. I love 7-11, but some of their stuff isn't too healthy. I like baked chips and Greek yogurt though, so I'm good on that!

I always get nuts at the gas station for a snack, then just watch my portions.
