Perfume does something very special: It provides an instant confidence boost with one simple spritz. But finding your signature perfume can prove somewhat challenging with the abundance of musky, floral, citrus or even woodsy notes to choose from.
Likewise, you may have trouble deciding whether you should splurge on designer perfume brands like Chanel and Dior, or opt for more budget-friendly fragrances by the likes of Aveda and Victoria's Secret. With so many scents and brands, how exactly should a gal start her search for a signature scent?
That's where our readers come in. They've spritzed-and-sniffed just about every fragrance out there and weighed in with their reviews — and we've added in a few editors' picks too. Count down to see which scent topped our best perfume list. The answer may surprise you — and leave you with your most perfect perfume yet.

Lady Gaga's "FAME", Rihanna "Nude", and Marc Jacob's "Daisy" are missing. Donna Karen's "Cashmere Mist" does have a pleasant scent.

I like some of these, but many great scents are missing--Nina Ricci's "L'Air du Temps," "Chanel," Paul Sebastian's "Design," Chanel's "Cristalle," and Estee Lauder's "White Linen" and "Pleasures."

Where I don't like most of the ones mentioned, I love love love a few that are. And I like that they are on there and other women agree. They aren't soft and daytime like. The others are similar to me. But a good mix.

I don't know ladies. I adore J'Adore, but honestly, can't afford it. My next best pick is Eternal Magic by Avon. I sell Avon, but I'm not biased, but this is not old fashioned or overpowering or cloying. Stays with you all day too. You need to know an Avon rep to let you know which type you're looking for as they vary widely.

I've only tried two in the list. VS is okay. Avon's is amazing but can be overwhelming if over applied. But again, it happens with any perfume!
