12 Worst HairspraysUnless you want hair that's crispy, greasy or frizzy, stay far away from these hair care products |
No. 4: Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Hair Spray, $15.50 TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 6.1*
Why: One reader says, "this hairspray is very sticky. It doesn't add volume at all -- in fact, it causes clumping and crunchiness." On top of that, it "doesn't dispense well. It shoots out in a stream rather than a fine mist." She finishes by saying, "I would never purchase this again." Another reader agrees saying it "shoot[s] out like Windex (one shot stream, not a mist), and then you have to work furiously fast to try and spread that jet spray on as many little hairs as you can -- failing miserably, you end up with a KLUMP of wet, sticky, sprayed hair in just that one spot." Bottom line, this product is "disappointing," say readers.

*At time of publication --10-- No. 3: Samy Fat Hair "0" Calories Thickening Spray, $7.99 TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 5.9*
Why: One reader says, "I tried this [spray] and threw it out after three days. It made my hair look frizzy and damaged, like I had a lot of split ends (even though I don't). I could never achieve a sleek, shiny style -- even with a dryer and round brush. And though it did add volume, big hair doesn't look good if it looks fried. Plus, whoever designed the spray bottle obviously never used it -- it's messy and worthless." Ouch. Another woman says, "it made my hair feel dull and though it was thickened, it [lasted] only for a little while. This was a big waste of money -- I'll stick to Redken!"

I am really shocked because the John Frieda Frizz Ease works wonders in my naturally wavy hair. I spray it all over my hair while it's still damp, clip it up, and when i take it out it's just curls and waves. But I'm sorry others don't like it!
