8 Daring Color Trends Everyone Can Pull OffIs your makeup bag filled with brown eyeshadows and clear lip glosses? If so, it may be time to break out of your beige-colored comfort zone and try one of these hot new color trends. We'll show you how |
Purple lips Before you freak, hear us out -- and believe us when we say this hot trend isn't reserved for glamazons. Even if you've never strayed from the pink lip realm, Maderich says purple isn't too far of a leap -- and it can actually be flattering. Here's how to do it right:
For fair skin tones: The paler you are, the more you'll want to lean toward a wine-purple, merlot color. Maderich says going sheer is a great way to wear the hue without letting it overpower your skin. Try Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, $15 -- it goes on sheer but still gives a gorgeous color.
For medium skin tones: Try a pale purple that's almost lavender, like Nars Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Born This Way, $26, says Daoud. "You can wear it on top of lipstick or on its own."
For darker skin tones: "The deeper the skin, the more blue-based the purple should be, so that your skin doesn't look ashy," says Maderich. Try Dior Dior Addict Lipstick in Mysterious Mauve, $30.
Bonus: Make sure you thoroughly cover any under-eye circles and blemishes when wearing a purple lip. "Anything purple will make the red in your skin stand out," says Maderich.

I am trying to keep an open mind, but I don't think orange eye shadow flatters anyone; nor do lavender lips.

I find it pretty hard to believe that most of these colors would ever look good on me.

I will not be trying tangerine. Orange is so not my color.

The tangerine had its time over the summer, but should be retired. I saw many women trying to pull it off. The key word is "trying". Orange??? No way!

I can see almost all of these working except the orange eyeshadow, not sure about that one.

I wish they showed these looks on actual models so we could get an idea of how the looks could be pulled off. Or even two looks like a high fashion one and an every day look one so its not too intimidating to try.
