7 Worst PowdersSome powders will make your face look orange, cakey, or worse -- break out. Here are readers' most hated powders. Consider yourself officially warned |
No. 2: Laura Mercier Mineral Finishing Powder, $32 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 6.6*
Why: "I don't believe that this [powder] is the softest or most micro-milled powder in the market," which it claims, says one reader. It gives "a muddy finish" that provides "different coverage on different areas on [the] face," leaving "patches here, patches there, patches everywhere." Readers say this is "not for the more mature skin," since the "powder settles into lines and makes you age." It is a "real disappointment" because "it makes skin look cakey the way cheap stuff does," says one reader. And to top it off, "it [also] emphasizes pores."

I'm not wild about Raw powder; thanks for letting me know that Laura Mercier's brightening powder is not all it's claimed to be!

Drug store mineral foundations are crap and most contain chemicals anyway. I wear mineral foundation from Ocean Mist Cosmetics (I've been wear MM for 10 years and this is the BEST I've found and I've tried them all). Though one complaint I've seen almost constantly is people saying a mineral foundation is cakey. Let me tell you this, if you try multiple mineral foundations and they all cake... YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

it surprises me that even if these products are "the worst", the rating is still over 6! so not really a "fail"?!

The elf foundation does nothing at all for coverage. Not gonna bother trying the others listed!
