My Fashion Week Diary: The RecapFollow a TotalBeauty.com editor at New York Fashion Week to get an exclusive glimpse of the hottest new trends -- and the magic (and mayhem) backstage |
Day 7: Fast Beauty It's the last day of New York Fashion Week, and as things wind down, my fellow beauty editors and I feel slightly disappointed with the barely there makeup and simple ponytails we saw at so many shows. I can say with certainty that neon colors and elaborate styles are a thing of the past (at least for now).
But basic isn't bad. In fact, many of these hair and makeup looks can be done in under 10 minutes. And who doesn't love fast beauty? You can do them in the car or on the train. They don't require a drawer full of products or a suitcase packed with high-tech tools. Instead, you get to embrace your natural hair texture and lighten your makeup bag.
If you're a nail art enthusiast, don't worry: It's still in. But nail art is becoming sleeker and more streamlined. Muted colors and sheer shades rule.
If this ultra-minimalist makeup and hair is any indication, when spring rolls around, you're going to be able to cut half an hour off your beauty routine. If that isn't the best thing to come out of fashion week, I don't know what is.

New York Fashion Week may be an industry event, but it's where most real-life beauty trends are created. From graphic cat-eyes to contouring to wild nail art, these looks came down the runways before you saw them on the street or tried them out at home.
