Emily's Favorite Show of the Week

I am in love I have found a makeup look that I will fondly remember forever! I've just finished working on the Thuy show, keyed by MAC makeup artist Romero Jennings.
First off, Romero is a wonderful teacher. So it was easy to lend him my ear when he did the demo. The eye look was a haze of bronzy-brown cream shadow that surrounded the rims of the eyes and extended up to the crease and below the lower lash lines. He also extended the cream shadow from the outer corners of the eyes out toward the temples.
But the exciting added element was a punch of electric orange eyeliner placed along the lower inner rims of the eyes only. I had never thought of putting a color like that there and it was simply stunning. I personally found that using a flat-top eyeliner brush was the best tool for the job. Plus the extra smoky layer of the brown cream shadow along the lower lashes really accentuated the orange.
A touch of mascara on the top lashes and a swipe of neutral lipstick on the lips finished off the look. Oops! I almost forgot that just before show time, Romero added a hint of white shimmer to the inner corners of all the models' eyes and along the cheekbones to highlight them.
Other points of interest: The models had lace-up shoes that took a little extra elbow grease to get on since their toes were freshly painted a beautiful minty green. And the hair, styled by the team at Ted Gibson Salon, was a beautiful pile of sexy volume and loose waves. At one point, the last model to arrive had five people working on her at once. It was stressful to say the least -- especially since our orange liner had such a specific placement and the hair team had to tease the model's roots while one of the other makeup artists was trying to get her eyes finished up.
I encourage you to try this look at home -- I know I'll be doing it again (my friends are already lined up)! You can substitute another bright color for the lower liner if you don't have the electric orange we used today or just don't like orange. And use a fluffy shadow brush to blend away any harsh edges left behind from the cream shadow.
Well, I'm off to clean my brushes and get set up for the next show (Monique L'Huillier!). Quick note: De-gunk your makeup brushes by soaping up their bristles with your everyday face wash. Rinse them out, then lay them flat to dry.
