Love it or Hate it: Mischa Barton's Look

I can't stop staring at this. And it's not just the hat. Something's not quite right about her smoky eye makeup ... (Learn how to do it right here.) What did she do wrong?
P.S. Please, don't steal these worst-ever looks (yikes!).

The hat is fine, and in general, the smoky eyes thing is maybe a little too heavy, but not pretty much ok, too. But her face is much too thin, and her eyes look half closed and sort of unfocused. She\'s a beautiful woman, but between the too-prominent cheekbones and the half mast eyes, it is not her best look, I think.

I am not a huge fan but I have to say that she does not look that bad here. As a makeup artist what I see is an attempt to create a smoky eye but does not look too blended. Between the smoky eye, the curly hair and the hat, it looks too busy. Ultimate rule of styling is that if you go heavy with the makeup, keep it simple with the hair and accessories. Well she did not do that, I think that is what does not feel right.
