The (shocking?) Rules on Tipping this Holiday
- Posted by Kristen on December 9, 2008 at 04:54PM
Unless you're MacGyver-ing at-home pedicures or highlighting your own hair (see video), sometime within the next three weeks you have to tip your favorite stylist/manicurist/colorist/brow shaper-ist. But how much do they expect?
At the holidays, tip the full price of a service instead of your usual 20 percent. So if your cute weekly mani/pedi costs $25, shell out an extra $25 for the holiday. If your bi-monthly cut normally runs $100, tip your stylist an additional $100. Note, there are a few exceptions.
Shocking? That's the rule, anyway. Does that sound insane or on target?
P.S. This year sucks money-wise for everyone, so if you can't do that, anything extra is nice. Even a card (write something nice and personal inside) or a girly gift like this.
P.P.S. You can get even cheaper gift ideas here.
