Update Your Look For Spring With These Beauty Tips (Psst... Rachel McAdams Was Sporting One of the Season's Biggest Trends at the Oscars)
- Posted by Kristen on March 29, 2010 at 10:11AM
The smoky eye, ponytail and mostly-black ensemble I've been sporting since fall is feeling pret-ty drab. And after seeing all of the spring-like looks on the red carpet Sunday -- did you see Rachel McAdams' gorgeous floral gown and glowing skin (loved!) -- I am starting to think it's time for a fashion and beauty overhaul. But before I bare my arms (not to mention my legs) I need to tackle some of my winter skin issues (see how I'm dealing with them here), and hopefully put that, well, spring in my step back. I'm not planning to re-invent the wheel (and you shouldn't either) -- so here are easy ways to update your look for spring -- I would love to be brave enough to do No. 2 (are you?).
Update No. 1: Major lashes
If you don't want to wear a lot of makeup, keep a natural look from heading to Snoozeville by going big with your lashes (à la Kim K and the other Kardashian sistas). Or, if big lashes aren't your thing, take this style quiz to Find Your Ideal Spring Makeup Look Now.
Update No. 2: Sassy short cut
The tomboy look is in (think darling Carey Mulligan who's pulling it off enough to make the likes of Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock jealous) and short, slightly androgynous, uncomplicated styles look best, says Erin Anderson, artistic director and co-owner of Woodley & Bunny Salon in Brooklyn, NY. Update No. 3: Bold floral prints
Ultra-feminine florals are ultra-hot this spring. Take baby steps into this trend by accessorizing with a floral print before you go all out like Scarlett Johansson did here (see other looks I loved on this A-lister here).
