I heard a genie joke yesterday (that was way too un-PC to re-tell here), but it shifted me into this parallel universe headspace about the quintessential three-wish proposition. I thought, hmmm … if a genie granted me three beauty wishes, what would they be? What would yours be? OK, I'll go first:

Your ass called. It wants you to stop and reconsider the next time you feel like wrapping that neon turtle-printed sarong you bought at the drugstore around your bikini clad bod. It was a failed purchase (unlike these best drugstore shampoos). Because you see, your ass knows it hasn't been perfect, but that doesn't mean you should punish it by wrapping it in rayon.

Whether you think tattoos are marks of beauty or big, permanent mistakes, between 14 and 25 percent of American adults have at least one tattoo, and many tatted celebs like Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie (try one of these celeb looks for women on the go) have been touted the most beautiful women in the world. Not to get too personal on the good ol' interweb, but an ex-boyfriend, who shall remain anonymous, used to dab on concealer (like one of these besties) when he got a pimple. Don't get me wrong, he never perused the drugstore aisle for Covergirl, but I would find him frantically rummaging through my makeup bag whenever a whopper would suddenly appear on his chin.

I never thought much about this (guys shouldn't have to "man up" and suffer through the embarrassment of pimples), until last weekend when I went to see a friend's rock band play. My guy friend, who is normally a bit straight-laced despite his guitar-slinging ways, was channeling his inner Pete Wentz (see exhibit A/B/C below) and rocking black smoky eyeliner (find your best smoky eye look here). And I thought, "hmm, that kinda looks good."

I get beauty product ADD with all the bazillion choices out there. I'll try something for a week (or a day), then skip to something else, and another and so on … It's probably because as a beauty editor, I come across so many misses like the 16 worst makeup products, but as of late, I do have some new faves that have been holding my interest. And I thought I would share them with you since I always love to hear of others' finds:

My mom's words, "eat something green or orange" still resonate in my head when I open the fridge to make myself lunch. She used to say that to me on the regular -- especially when I was a malnourished college student enjoying carb orgies and beer, and not enough fruits and veggies. But the older I get, I feel more and more drawn to her adage. As we all know, summer is both a blessing and a curse for feet. We all rejoice when sandal season comes around and then grumble at the cracked heels and calluses that come with baring our soles (sounds dramatic, but having nasty, crusty feet can be that dramatic). Between my love of flip-flops and days of padding around barefoot on hardwood floors, my foot files and creams just can't keep up.

In recent beauty news, a so-called redhead confessed that she's actually a blonde (hint: she's one of the three women pictured). It got me thinking, how many other red-haired stars don't have, ahem, matching carpet and curtains?
