Start with your eyes first, Anton says, so that when you inevitably drop eyeshadow on your cheeks you don't mess up your foundation.
Anton began by curling Heather's lashes to open up her eyes, then she applied Almay Intense I-Color Eyeliner for Brown Eyes, $4.99, into the roots of her lashes. "Apply little dots in between the lashes to make the lashline look thicker," Anton says.
To really define Heather's eyes, she also applied liner to her lower lashline and inner rims.

Primer
No one wants her smoky eye to melt off before the party really gets going, so Anton applied Almay Intense I-Color Liquid Shadow + Color Primer, $7.99, to Heather's lids before shadow. If you're in a pinch and don't have a primer handy, Anton says you can also pat concealer on your lids to help shadow stay in place.
Anton uses a slightly stiff brush to pack on multiple layers of the color on her lids for a darker hue (you can also try wetting the shadow for an intense color if you'd like). If you want a more sheer look you can use a fluffier brush. Then she applies the bronzy shade in the crease and the champagne shade in the inner corners of Heather's eyes. Finally, she uses a fluffy brush to blend the shadow so there are no telltale lines.
A little tip from Anton: Once you're happy with your shadow, use a little makeup remover to clean up any smudges or dropped shadow underneath your eyes. You can try Almay Oil-Free Makeup Eraser Sticks, $5.50, for an easy all-in-one option.

Mascara
No eye makeup look is complete without mascara. Anton uses Almay Intense I-Color Volumizing Mascara, $7.99, and applies multiple coats to really play up Heather's lashes. She suggests starting with the brush held horizontally and then flipping it vertically to add even more product to your lashes.

Foundation
It doesn't matter whether you apply your foundation with a brush, a sponge, or your fingers, the important thing is that you blend, Anton says. "Blend down into the neck as well, as your neck is usually lighter than your face and you don't want any demarcation," she says.
Anton used Almay Smart Shade Mousse Makeup, $13.99, on Heather and applied it with a foundation brush (her preferred method). After that, she applied concealer under Heather's eyes with a concealer brush.
