A neutral cat eye lets you rock this trend without rocking the boat too much. Rashida Jones nails this technique with her subtle feline shape. You can line all around your eyes if they're hooded, as long as you extend the wing slightly beyond your lashes to keep them looking open.

How: Take a long-wearing pencil liner like Cargo Swimmables Eyeliner Pencil in Black Sea, , $18, and trace around your upper and lower lash lines, keeping the line thinner towards the inner corner.

Extend the upper line into a slight wing, just a couple millimeters past your eye. Connect the wing to the lower lash liner. Next, line your waterlines with the pencil, top and bottom. Finish with a coat of lengthening mascara. Add a touch of highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them up.

Emma Stone's classic red-carpet look feels fresh because of her simple eye makeup. With hooded eyes that are wide already, less is more. Stone's eyes naturally have a strong feline shape, so forgoing winged eyeliner and makeup on the lower lash line makes her appear alert and enhances her eye shape without overwhelming it.

How: Brighten your eyes by blending a shimmery champagne eye shadow across the lid and up towards the brow bone, taking it into the inner corner of the eye. Take a bit along the inner third of your lower lash line to add even more light.

A black felt-tip liner like Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Midnight, $20, will give you control as you draw a fine line from the inner upper corner of the eyes across the lash line, ending at the outer corner of your eye. Finish the look with mascara on your upper lashes only.

Lauren Graham knows how to spotlight her baby blues. If your skin folds over the center of your eye like Graham's does, it's essential to bring height to that area, which you can do with sky-high lashes. The key is focusing on long, separated lashes and an inner eye highlight. The overall effect is youthful, lifted and sexy.

How: Take a barley-colored cream shadow stick like Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Bountiful Beige, $17, and blend it into the inner corner of your eyes. For extra twinkle, run a bit along your lower lash line as well. Blend out any harsh edges with your finger, and then allow the product to set for two to three minutes before moving on.

Next, line your upper lash line with a felt tip liner, lifting your lid to give you a little extra space. Once dry, let go of your lid and curl your lashes -- this is the best way to open up hooded eyes in seconds. Add two coats of lengthening mascara to your top and bottom lashes. For even more of a wow factor, apply three individual false lashes to the outer corners of your eyes (try Make Up For Ever Single Eyelashes, $16).

Every woman needs to bring the drama with her makeup once in a while. When the mood strikes, a graphic cat eye flatters hooded eyes by lengthening and lifting them. To copy Rachel Bilson's look, capitalize on the lower lash line, since the upper lid's space is in short supply. With almond-shaped eyes, you would focus the wing on the upper lash line, but with hooded eyes, elongating the line below the eyes achieves that same effect.

How: Powder your lids for a dry, clean canvas. Next, take a long-lasting pencil liner like Benefit BadGal Liner Waterproof, $20, that comes with a sponge on the end. Make a thin line along your top lash line, stopping at the outer corner of your eye.

Line your bottom water line, following the curve of your lower waterline up and out, into a strong wing. Take the sponge end of your liner and make one quick upward swipe from the tip of your wing. This will sharpen the wing into a tip. Curl your lashes and add a volumizing mascara. Take a page from Bilson's book and add a touch of glitter over your liner to bring a twinkle to your eyes.

Amy Poehler never seems to age. This of course, is due in part to her effervescent, energetic personality, but it's also because she knows how to work her eye makeup. She uses subtle shading, adding a hazy halo around her eyes, which makes them look circular and wide.

How: Take a light brown shade, such as NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Strike a Pose, $4.50, and blend it across your lid and along your lower lash line. Then, using the same shade, and with your eyes open, blend the color into your socket and a bit above, to create a smoky effect.

Highlight the inner corner of your eyes with a nude shimmer shade, and line your top lash line with a black felt-tip liner, lifting your lid as you go. Add a few coats of lengthening mascara to your top and bottom lashes to complete the look.
