2010 Teen Choice Awards Recap: The Best Makeup and Hair Goes To ...
- Posted by Kristen on August 10, 2010 at 04:55PM
The 2010 Teen Choice Awards were on last night, but they didn't make it on to my must-TiVo queue. I really don't get too jazzed up about tween pop stars and 20-something vampires -- to be honest they make me feel a bit cougar-ish. I'm more often inspired by these gorgeous celebs over 40. But the main reason I didn't watch is that I can't stand Katy Perry (who hosted the show). It still bugs me that she became famous for ripping off and creating a really bad, Girls-Gone-Wild version of Jill Sobule's hit from the '90s.
Anyhoo, I couldn't help but check out photo recaps of the star-infested event to see who rocked winning and losing hair and makeup looks. But instead of getting all Perez Hilton on you (like we kinda did in this best and worst celeb plastic surgery round up), I'll step down from my why-I-loathe-Katy-Perry soapbox and just highlight the best beauty looks, OK?
The awards for best makeup and hair from The Teen Choice Awards go to
Kim Kardashian for Best Updo
Kim's makeup is always perfection (that goes without staying) and her sleek, high pony shows off her gorgeous face and signature smoky eye look. Watch this video to see three tricks for making your ponytail sexier.
Ashley Greene for Best Waves
Her soft, romantic waves look effortless yet polished. To get Ashley's look, wrap large sections of hair around a curling iron and lightly finger comb the curls to create waves. Get more info on how to, um, make waves here.
Lea Michele for Best Eyeliner
Her liquid lined cat eyes stand out amid a nude lip. To get this look, use liquid eyeliner along your top lashline (try one of these editor-approved, long-wearing liners), and wing it out and up slightly at the outer corners of your eyes. For a more dramatic look, apply a strip of false lashes (see our lash how to video here).
Katerina Graham for Best Lip Color
This electric pink pop of color is a great notice-me choice. To make this look work for you, first find your best pink lip color by taking this quiz and then apply it with a lip brush for better precision. Keep eyes and cheeks more natural so your lips get all the attention.
Leighton Meester for Best Understated Look
With all of the over-the-top hair and makeup looks seen at this awards show, Leighton's low-key look was a sight for sore eyes. To copy it, create loose curls at the ends of your hair with a curling iron (if you need some heat styling hand-holding, check out Curling 101) and pair it with a swipe of metallic eyeliner and rosy lip.

Yeah, I\'m not too crazy about Katy Perry either. Haven\'t seen any real talent from her yet. Yeah yeah, Kim has pretty makeup-ed eyes, but how about a more upbeat outfit; something a little more cheery for the event... like colors n stuff, instead the ol\' faithful one-armed black number.
