Four-Minute Make Up Looks
- Posted by Kristen on June 21, 2010 at 08:59PM
Challenge: We asked celeb makeup artist, Napoleon Perdis, to create six makeup looks that can be done in four minutes. He passed with flying eyeshadow colors (see a list of the highest rated long-lasting shadows here), but can these looks realistically be pulled off by non-models or makeup artist types? Well, Total Beauty's editors took one for the team to put these quickie looks to the test -- with stop watches in hand. See the results below.
Look 1: Monochromatic Glow
Product Perdis used:
Napoleon Perdis Barely Blushing in Rouge, $19.00
How-to: Smooth the creamy blush over your entire eyelid and then blend the same product onto your cheeks for a natural flushed look. See how to finish off the look.
Tester: Molly Roemer, Associate Editor
Time it took: 1 minute, 50 seconds
Products used: Flirt! Cheek Mousse in Fool For Love, $12
Tropez Ultra Glaze Lip Gloss in Catz Meow, $1.99
Here's what I thought: "This is an effortless, natural look that takes no time to create. It's probably best on fair-skinned gals like myself since the peachy cream blush pops more on the lips, lids and cheeks of a paler palette." See what else I did to get this look.
Look 2: Glamorous Siren
Products Perdis used:
Napoleon Perdis Neo Noir Liquid Liner, $20.00
Napoleon Perdis Luminous Lip Veil in Scarlet Fever, $20.00
How-to: Line your top lashlines with liquid eyeliner -- choose one with a fine point for ease of application or use a gel liner and brush. See the next step here.
Tester: Susan Yara, Associate Editor
Time it took: 3 minutes, 40 seconds
Products used: MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre, $16.50
Estee Lauder Gel Eyeliner in Black, $19.50
Napoleon Perdis Baked Powder in Peach Set, $20
Estee Lauder Lipstick in Simply Red, $17
Bourjois Paris Effet 3D Lipgloss #23, $15.50
What she thought: "Throwing on black liquid eyeliner and red lipstick is an easy way to make your look go from daytime to nighttime." See what else Susan has to say about it.
Look 3: Color-full Lips
Products Perdis used:
Napoleon Perdis Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad in #4, $35 (for eyes and cheeks)
Napoleon Perdis DeVine Goddess Lipstick in Anna, $22
How-to: Brush a taupe eyeshadow over your lids, stopping at the crease. Lightly dust a peach powder blush on the apples of your cheeks. See how to complete the rest of this look.
Tester: Kristen Oldham Giordani, Senior Editor
Time it took: 2 minutes, 50 seconds
Products used:
BareMinerals Eyecolor in Queen Phyllis and Queen Linda, $12
Physicians Formula Magic Mosaic Multi-Colored Custom Blush in Nude/Warm Nude, $10.95
Bourjois Docteur Glamour Intensive Moisturizing+Treatment Lipstick in Rose Toubib, $15
What she thought: "I came to the office wearing only my BareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation, $25, Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara, $19.50 and VS Makeup Pro Brow FX Grooming Gel, $12 (all of which took me a minute to apply at home). I was quickly able to transform my colorless complexion to a much brighter, more "finished" look with the above products." See what else Kristen has to say about achieving this look.
Look 4: Pretty in Purple
Products Perdis used:
Napoleon Perdis Eye Pencils in Purple Reign, $18
Napoleon Perdis Cheek to Chic Blush Duos in #4, $28
Napoleon Perdis Luminous Lip Veil in In the Flesh, $20
How-to: Using your bold (try purple or blue) eye pencil, line only your lower lashlines and blend it with your finger to soften the line. Dust the apples of your cheeks with pink powder blush. See how to finish it.
Tester: Sarah Carrillo, Senior Associate Editor
Time it took: 2 minutes, 30 seconds
Products used:
MAC Pearlglide Eye Liner in Rave, $14.50
Bare Minerals Face Color in Clear Radiance (for cheeks)$20
Purple Lab Sealed with a Cure Lipgloss in Nancy, $18.50
What she thought: This look was extremely easy to do. Just a quick application of my usual foundation, concealer and mascara, then a swipe of light blush, lip gloss and eyeliner. See what else Sarah says about creating this look.

I agree, not 4-minute makeup since they \"already had on\" their other makeup.
