How To Get Picture Perfect Skin (Even if Yours, like Jessica Simpson's, Is Anything But)
- Posted by Kristen on February 25, 2010 at 06:27PM
Don't hate Jessica Simpson because she's beautiful. Hate her because she has a new VH-1 reality show (premiering March 15th) called "The Price of Beauty."
Ok, maybe that's a little harsh but do we really need to see Billy Corgan's rumored gal pal traipsing around the world to expose different women's beauty regimens? Hmm. Wait, maybe we do. Could be interesting and enlightening. Maybe we'll learn all sorts of hair and makeup secrets -- like what the best shampoos in India are or how French women stay looking so young. Guess I'll be tuning in to see.
And, lord knows Jessica is a beauty. Despite her admitted acne issues, the girl's got gorgeous going on. Guess her A-list makeup mavens have ways of hiding less-than-perfect skin. That's ok, I know a few too and they're sharing their tips on how to make your complexion look flawless -- even when it's anything but. Check out this step-by-step tutorial
Step 1:
The first step towards achieving a flawless look is to wash your face and then apply a lightweight moisturizing serum. (See which anti-aging serums the pros like.)
Step 2:
Next, you may need a primer. Celeb makeup artist Molly Stern says that women with texture issues (bumps, scars, etc.) can really profit from one since it will help to smooth your skin and provide a better canvas for the rest of your makeup. Primer also works to keep your makeup on longer and control excess oil, minimizing the need for touch-ups.
(Learn how to apply primer properly here.)
Step 3:
Once you're primed for perfection you can move along to applying foundation -- the key to getting it flawless is to blend, blend, blend! Choose a lightweight liquid that matches your skin color exactly and offers medium coverage. Confused about how to find one that matches your skin? Join the club. Step 4:
Follow the foundation with concealer. Use a corrective one to camouflage flaws -- for bluish undereye circles, use yellow- or orange-tinted concealer, for red pimples, use a green corrective concealer; and for brown spots, use a pinkish concealer. Blend a bit of the one you choose with a smidgen of your foundation to help it better match your skin color. Then either use a small concealer blush or your finger to pat -- not rub -- the mixture onto the area you're concealing. Wait, you're not finished with this step -- see what's imperative for a smooth finish.
