I recently returned from a trip to Disney World and I couldn't help but notice that many of the women there were wearing a full face of makeup. This is problematic for several reasons: 1. Full foundation, eye makeup and lipstick tends to be overkill with the T-shirts and shorts one wears to an amusement park. 2. A day outdoors complete with sun, roller coasters and water rides often results in a smeary mess of makeup running down your face. 3. You're on vacation, and your face deserves a break too.

Of course, you don't have to completely abstain from makeup (I certainly didn't), you just need to tone it down. I like to think I've perfected my amusement park face -- just enough coverage that you don't look washed out or tired in pictures, but not so much that you're constantly running to the restroom for touchups. After applying sunscreen, I simply use the following: concealer for any major issues like dark circles and pimples (I like Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes), waterproof mascara, a very light sweep of bronzer or blush (I used Smashbox Blush) and lip balm with SPF. You can judge the look on me above (although in my defense it had rained earlier that day and only the mascara survived).
