I go to a pro to get highlights in my naturally mousey blonde hair and always have. I have never trusted myself enough to do color at home. But we recently shot a how-to video on creating highlights in dark hair (much trickier than in light hair) using a box hair color. I was beyond impressed with the results our expert was able to achieve (yes, we used an expert to apply the color while showing all of us at home how to do it -- but he did use a L'Oreal box hair color).
