Susan Boyle Took Our Advice
- Posted by Kristen on April 27, 2009 at 04:22PM
Many of you thought we were being a little insensitive when we recently posted about ways internet sensation Susan Boyle could improve her looks. But after many other Web sites and publications joined us in critiquing her style, she went out and got herself a makeover. See her new and improved look above. She totally followed our advice! She darkened her hair (which, like we promised, took years off) and she got those lovely thick brows tamed. They look great too -- not extremely thin or overly sculpted. So, what do you think of Miss Boyle's new look? Do you miss her the way she was? Or, are you proud of her for getting a much-needed makeover?

Last night the Total Beauty crew attended a launch party at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, Calif. for U*tique Shop, a new luxury beauty product vending machine. See the machine above, pretty snazzy-looking, huh?

I was stoked to run into the beautiful Lindsay Price (from "Lipstick Jungle") last night at Dylans Candy bar in NYC. Let me just report that Lindsay is even more stunning in person. I couldn't stop admiring her luminous skin.

In an effort to save money, I'm forgoing all salon and spa visits (we'll see how long I last). Luckily, I have a few of these gadgets to see me through my facial-fasting. OK, so a few of them (like, um, this one) I'm a little scared to try, but if you're braver than me you'll probably love it.

They say (well, at least I say) that 40 is the new 30 and 50 is the new 40 -- these celebrities certainly prove my point. So does our makeover of 50-year-old Kim, she turned out smokin' hot. Good thing, since she's working the Internet dating scene. Could your match.com profile use a boost too? Then check out these tips for looking sexy beyond 40.

You may skip right past the Wet n Wild section at the drugstore (maybe you were buying these other top products instead?), but it's time to take a second glance. Look past the slightly cheesy packaging and you'll find some high-quality products that cost next-to-nothing. Don't believe me? Check out these reader reviews. While there are a few Wet n Wild goodies to steer clear of, there are plenty they're loving:
Retro celebrity hairstyles: the good, the bad, the ugly

Celebs are constantly experimenting with new hairstyles (remember when this braided thingy was the trend?), well lately they've been rockin' these retro hairstyles. Some are pretty gorgeous, but as we know, not all experiments end well. Remember the time you put foil in the microwave? Disaster. Well, so are some of these hairstyles -- though thankfully they're not as bad as these doozies.
Are these Dangerous Ingredients in Your Makeup? Yep.

I'm not very good with reading labels. I've never been one of those gals who can rattle off the calorie count of my favorite snack or even remember what the active ingredients are in my moisturizer. But after reading this article, I'm definitely going to take a second look at the labels of all my products.

I thought the reason my hair was lookin' good today might have to do with this new gel I'm trying -- but actually, I owe a thanks to my hometown. Why? Because it's on this list of the top 11 best-hair cities (thank goodness I don't live in one of these worst-hair cities, my apologies if you do).
