Hey, no one said we're low maintenance. All joking aside, though, we did want to compile a list of products we would need should we find ourselves: 1) in an unexpected, getting-ready-to-go-out disaster, or in a less dramatic, but panic-provoking nonetheless, issue of being late; and 2) having a long, late night. The list includes all of these saviors, and then some — and all are gloriously pink!
We have all experienced the pain of cold weather wreaking havoc on our hands, making our skin endlessly thirsty and hungry, our cuticles in need of grooming more often, and our nails...oh, the brittleness... All that can change, luckily, and sometimes within minutes, seconds even!
Clean, fresh and cozy — when it comes to fragrances, this usually means to look for floral, herbal and musky notes, but we all know, all too well, that not all fragrances that fit this description bring that elusive, uplifting lightness and coziness we want from a clean-smelling scent.
This is a clear, flexible, texturizing wax that creates fluffy, feathered brows, no flake or crunch. The natural-matte finish has 12-hour long wear and is waterproof, humidity-proof and sweat-proof. Brows stay conditioned and nourished thanks to ingredients like candelilla wax, jojoba seed oil, shea butter and argan oil.
Microbiome-friendly skincare and beauty products have been steadily gaining attention and popularity, and we can only expect to see more of them in the coming year. So, how has recent research helped us to understand why a balanced microbiome is important? Well, microbiome is a term for an ecosystem (each person's is different) on our skin, consisting of microorganisms which include fungi, bacteria, viruses (and skin mites) and they do a lot of good for our skin's healthy functioning and appearance by reinforcing skin barrier function.
I split my time between Tel Aviv and New York City, so I've become very familiar with Israeli beauty products, and they're some of the best I've tried. While many brands use their Israeli heritage as part of their marketing strategy — like Ahava which is known for Dead Sea mineral-rich skincare — many other popular brands show no obvious signs. It's a if you know, you know type situation.
New Year's Eve is one of those occasions synonymous with glitter and all things sparkly. Whether it's in your makeup, hair, inside your home or on your nails, sparkle is practically mandatory over this holiday. Even a glass of champagne or sparkling wine looks...well, sparkly.
Some of us maaaay still be processing 2019, but nevertheless, 2023 is just around the corner. Lucky for us, all the beauty trends for 2023 bring in a lot of playfullness, sensory experience, mindfulness and optimism — with the primary focus on enhancing and emphasizing that which we do have, not so much altering it (significantly).
Roses are always a good idea, especially in skincare, but do you know which part of rose is in a product you've got your eye on? Upon seeing "wild rose" in the name, it makes sense that our first thought would be about that recognizable rose scent. Beauty products with wild rose can contain scent-bearing rose petals (or their derivatives), but that's not what "wild rose" in beauty products actually means. You, dear reader, are buying something even more precious than petals — rosehip seed oil from specific rose varieties.
With November 15th being National Recycling Day, we turned our focus more towards eco-friendly beauty brands, aka brands that are all about: sustainability, ethical sourcing, recycled materials, refillable product options, world water resources, fair trade, who are zero waste oriented and/or plastic-free and plastic-negative. This all means that they are also vegan and cruelty-free. The upside to these brands (other than the obvious)? A lot of them give back, and do it through, for instance, educational seminars or giving a part of their profits to be invested into the environment or communities, or using exclusively recycled or even plantable packaging. The new generation of environmentally conscious brands actually produces palpable results. And really good products.
Venturing into different waters is not a new thing for brands in the fashion or art industry. If the last few years are anything to go by, where we've witnessed many fashion brands starting their own beauty lines (to our delight), we can make an educated guess that this business trend is only going to continue. The stakes are high, though. If the beauty products are not hand in hand with the quality we've come to be accustomed to, not only may the brand in question lose their credibility on the beauty front, it may actually devalue our perception and experience of the quality of their initial product(s), services and identity they've curated over time.
Variety is the spice of life, is it not? Well, the holiday season is here, and new holidays-themed value sets are going to be popping up more and more, making it SO hard to pick and choose, while being mindful of our spending at the same time.
What, in your opinion, makes a power-couple, but one of our (gender-liberated, feminist, self-aware but global-impact concious) generation? They were and are (or experience themselves as) self-dependent and accomplished people, both before and during marriage/dating? Check. They give us good fashion and headlines? Check. They share their devotion and happiness with pride and rise each other up? Check. They make love and money together? Cha-ching! I mean, check.
Unisex scents have been around forever, but over the last few years the trend has been exploding, and it's only growing stronger. In fact, the trend has become so prevalent that some colognes are even finding female fans.
Sure, you love your cold and hot matcha drinks, but did you know that you can reap its beauty benefits, too? Well, there are plenty of said benefits, and beauty companies are not walking away from this superfood ingredient any time soon. And good for them (and us, tbh)!
With the fall well in the air, many of us feel like cozying up inside more. 'Tis the season of hugs, after all, and we kind of want our body lotions, serums and creams to feel like they've given us a hug. In other words, to have our beauty routine feel more like a spa ritual at home than a strict regimen, especially after careful summer skincare.
Sometimes you just want a scent that'll transport you to another place or dimension. Even if you're still sitting in your living room. Think perfume that evokes the misty beaches of Santa Barbara or a flickering candle that'll send you to Joshua Tree National Park. Or how about an aroma that takes you all the way to Japan?
Fragrances are often separated into two categories: perfume and cologne. The former is usually attached to more "feminine" scents, while the latter is usually restricted to the fellas. But we're looking to shake things up. Which is why we're turning to Dossier.
'Tis the season of swimsuits. Which means it's also the season of bikini waxes. While bikini waxes last a decent amount of time, you don't need to book regular salon or spa appointments. Why? Because there are plenty of home tools that allow you to extend the time between waxing sessions.
The change of seasons is a great excuse to treat yourself to a new perfume. This summer consider spritzing a floral scent that truly celebrates the joy of these warm months. From an aroma inspired by Kyoto's blooms to a citrusy sunflower spray, we're giving a shout-out to eight of our favorite fresh floral fragrances.
