When I'm feeling depressed during the winter months, beauty products are the first thing I turn to (a tad pathetic, I know, but whatever works, right?). Here are three ways I perk myself up when I'm on the run and feeling blah:
I Make Myself Blush: If you're on the go and need a bad day beauty boost and happen to be "blush-less," try using a little coral or pink lipstick on your cheeks and sheer it out with your fingertip. It will give you the same "flushed" look that blush can offer and will instantly brighten your skin. Or, if putting lipstick on your cheeks freaks you out, pick one of these
all-time best blushes and stash it in your purse for emergencies.
I Paint My Nails: While I'm not a huge fan of DIY manicures (I'm not going to lie, professionals are called professionals for a reason and there's nothing like 10 minutes of pampering), but if I'm, say, in an airport where there's no other option, just painting my nails with a red polish helps perk me up -- there's something about looking down and seeing that pop of color that inexplicably brightens my day. (By the way, as much as I love getting my nails done in a salon, there are a few key things you should
never let your manicurist do.)
I Splurge on a Blow Out: I could be wearing a potato sack, but if my hair's blown out, I feel like a million bucks. Happily, no matter where I am traveling for work, I am always able to find a small salon that can blow out my hair -- sometimes for as little as $15. And, bonus, since I can manage to make it last for a few days, that extra sleep in the morning puts a big smile on my face. (Don't want to drop the cash? These expert tips will help you get the
best at-home blow out EVER.
