Note to self: next time you're bored or looking to blow off some steam do not, I repeat, DO NOT, seek solace in a bottle. Especially if it's a bottle of maroon-red hair color.
Yes, it's true. I was a ninny and decided to dye my blonde, highlighted hair red. At home. By myself. Did I do any research? Did I consult the
Color Finder to see which shades would work best with my woefully cool coloring? That'd be a big, fat, NO. I did no such thing. Instead, I just went to Rite Aid, bought a box, pulled on the rubber gloves and started coloring. No care with choosing the shade. No thought as to the consequences. I just did it.
Would you be shocked to learn that the results are disastrous? Thought not. They are. And then some.
We all make fun of Lindsay Lohan for drinking while under house arrest even though she knows full well she's going to be randomly tested. It's called self-sabotage I believe. And, while I'm not going to end up in the pokey for having committed a heinous hair crime, I think I too was exhibiting some self-destructive behavior. Clearly I was not born yesterday, I'm not in high school -- a time when blind experimenting with such things is expected. So what other reason could there be really? There was
no way it was going to turn out looking good, so what was I thinking? (Or, maybe the problem was that I
wasn't thinking.)
I have two ex-boyfriends coming to town next month. Did I subconsciously set out to make myself look terrible so I'd have an excuse for, well, looking terrible? I'll need to ponder that one. In the meantime, I need to figure out how to fix this poufy pink thing on top of my head.
