For this week's "Your Questions Answered" we turned to Terri Apanasewicz, a celebrity makeup artist who's worked with everyone from Cindy Crawford to Julie Bowen to Faith Hill. (She's also the woman responsible for
Hillary Scott's (of Lady Antebellum) gorgeous Grammy look.
Q:What is the hottest trend for color this spring?
-- lawoody
A: "Bright colors seem to be in the No. 1 spot for spring," Terri says. "Orange shades [are] leading the way for lips and cheeks followed by pink." When it comes to the eyes, it's all about violet. However, Terri cautions to "please do not do all of these at the same time, instead, feature one area of the face [when trying] a new trend."
Editor's note: Looking for a great orange lipstick or gloss? Try
Mac Lipstick in Hot Sass, $15 or the coveted
Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Orange Crush, $20 (it's a limited edition runway collection item). A great pink one? We like
CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Enchantress, $6.
When it comes to selecting an orange blush,
Korres Natural Products Blush, 44, $24 is a very pretty shade -- be conservative with application though, a little goes a long way. And, for pink, you can't go wrong with
CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Classic Pink, $4 -- it's a perfect shade and price.
For violet/lilac eyes, try Clarins Neo Pastels Eye Colour & Liner Palette, $39, which packs six shades of brown, pink and violet into a super sleek gold compact. And,
Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow in Untamed Violet, $20, which is a true shade of violet with subtle gold flecks for added shimmer and warmth.
What else is hot for spring? Pretty pastel nails.
