This morning, of course, the Internet is abuzz with the best (and worst) looks from the 2011 Oscars red carpet and tips on how to recreate the stars' styles -- Reese's retro ponytail, Mila's mauve lips, Halle's sparkling smoky eye. And, here, we'll discuss this week's reader-submitted question from Suzy B on how she can get "dewy, flawless skin like Cate Blanchett."
Oscar winner Blanchett, who presented the award for Best Makeup to "The Wolfman," (and who pulled off that Givenchy statement gown like no one else could have) first prepped her skin with a full SK II regimen. (Coincidence that she's the face of the Japanese skin care line? Um, probably not. But, she
does have beautiful skin and it looked phenomenal last night.)
To prep, she used the
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask, $90 and the
SK-II Signs Eye Mask, $110 for 14 pairs. Of the masks, Cate says, "I use a Facial Treatment Mask to immediately brighten my complexion with a surge of Pitera it's so refreshing and leaves my skin feeling rejuvenated." (A yeast compound, Pitera is rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, organic acids and other natural ingredients -- it's the main ingredient in SK-II products.)
Then, as a moisture base she used
SK II Facial Treatment Essence, $22 and used
Lancome Teint Miracle Lit From Within Makeup, $37.
Hint: If you're skin's not as perfect as Cate's, using a light reflecting primer like
Lancome Eclat Miracle, $37 or
Murad Skin Perfecting Primer -- Dewy Finish, $35, will give you a faux allover glow.
So, there you have it Suzy, Cate's luminous skin in a couple of steps. (Of course, a lifetime of hiding from the sun and living healthfully undoubtedly contribute to her overall radiance.)
And, they weren't at the Oscars, but when it comes to the
perfect natural-looking blush, I nominate these two girls.
