Perez Hilton is receiving heat for Miley Cyrus' sometimes too-revealing wardrobe. Who's at fault here?
Revealing Photo of Miley Cyrus' Body Gets Perez Hilton in Trouble
With Cyrus being just 17-years-old, posting an explicit photo of a minor is subject to child-pornography charges. Hilton has since removed the offending picture and this afternoon posted a video response to the charges saying that though he may nickname the star as "Slutty Cyrus," she isn't a "moron" and was "clearly" wearing underwear, to which he reaffirms with uploading another picture of Cyrus with her assumed underwear lines circled.
Whether she was wearing panties or not, we may never know -- simply because Cyrus hasn't commented on this missing-panty-controversy yet. But controversy surrounding this teen star isn't really new news. Even before Hilton's incriminating photo, Cyrus has been making headlines all weekend long from Madrid and London with some racy performances of her new single, "Can't Be Tamed." If parents were upset with her "pole dancing" at last year's Teen Choice Awards, then the performance of her mimicking a kiss with a female dancer while scantily covered with feathers would shock mothers across the country -- hence the negative media backlash.
Seems like the Disney star is following the footsteps of every other child artist growing up, fighting the Mouse and rebelling with an explosion of revealing her body and edgy antics. If you can remember, one of the original Mouseketeers, Britney Spears began to shed her young girl persona with "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" and then released, "Piece of Me" in response to all the negative media attention she was under in 2007. Then there was Lindsay Lohan's "Rumors" where she asks the media to "just let me do the things I want to do." And now Cyrus insists that she can't be tamed.
Ever since she popped onto Disney's TV show as Hannah Montana four years ago, the child star has risen to fame in a media minute. And now, at the ripe age of 17, it might be time for us to realize our tween queen is growing up -- hot shorts and all. Exiting a vehicle is probably the tamest thing Cyrus has done all weekend long.
So why did Hilton post the offensive picture at all you may ask? Well, he responds, "I thought she was exiting that car in a very unladylike fashion and, you know, I like to encourage Miley Cyrus to be lady-like." Will this be the end of the controversial gossip queen? Only time and handcuffs will tell.
