"Mario Sorrenti makes me feel very comfortable; the sessions are great fun," Johansson said on Mango's website. "I love working with Mango."
The ad campaign, which until 2009 featured Johansson's "Vicky Christina Barcelona" costar Penelope Cruz, was shot at an iconic location in Los Angeles. Celebrity hairstylist Oribe Armando Canales was responsible for re-working the 25-year-old actress' brunette locks into a sexy, tousled hairstyle. Canales, lauded for his volume-enhancing ability, has worked with everyone in the fashion spectrum from Versace to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (he designed hair for their mannequins). Following his handiwork for her "On the 6" album cover, Jennifer Lopez is even said to have called upon the hairstylist for years.
Johansson's brunette hair, perfected into a wavy set for the ad, was no exception to the stylistic science of Canales, who's done previous Mango ads with the "Iron Man 2" star. All this, despite Johansson once-open protests about her own hair being, "just a burden."
"My hair is such a disaster, I never blow-dry," the actress told "People" magazine.
Her uber-glam, now-auburn mane has transformed the actress, as well as the Mango ads (she was blonde when first posing for the ads). Johansson's natural hair color is, according to the actress, "dirty blonde." "I've been a bottle blonde before, very yellow - and a white blonde," Johansson told actressarchive.com. "My dad is Danish and he's a natural blonde." She once event took a clipping from her dad's hair to the salon so she could have her own hair tinted the same color.
Mango's Fall/Winter collection, which first showed at Madrids Círculo de Bellas Artes, is built off the influence of British country style (a noticeable departure from its animal prints in the previous campaign) and dare we say, Mad Men mood. The hour-glass figured actress models in the brand's handmade, chunky sweaters and belted knit dresses and pencil skirts, to well-tailored outwear as double-breasted jackets and trench coats, even open-toed heels.
"Mango as a signature look casual, with many combinations of garments, fresh and young," Johansson said on Mango's website.
This year, it was announced that the dark-haired beauty was designing a bag for Mango in an effort was to raise funds for those affected by the earthquake in Haiti. The design by the actress was of an ancient map of Haiti and contained the message "supporting the people of Haiti."
Brown or blonde, you can't change the true color of this gracious and talented actress. Or do you prefer Mrs. Ryan Reynolds one over the other?
