Health Care Bill Imposes Tax on Tanning

Do you need one more reason to fake a bake? Well, part of the new health care reform stipulates a tax on tanning beds!
Tanning will now be a taxable offense.
That's right - those who choose to hit the tanning booth will be charged an additional ten percent as a deterrent tax. However, products that give you a healthy glow without causing sun damage, like spray tanning or lotions, will not be subject to the tax.
Within the next decade, the tax is expected to generate $2.7 billion, according to "Yahoo Shine".
This tax may make tan-a-holics think twice about exposing their skin to the sun's harmful rays, and Jan Meshon, the owner of City Sun Tanning in New York City, told the news source that he is worried about the additional cost deterring clients.
"The average tanning session costs $15 to $20, and an extra 10 percent on top of that is definitely not helpful ... all of our customers would like to spend less already," he said.
What do you think, is it fair to tax those who just can't get enough of the sun, or will the tax work to benefit the health of many Americans?
